I thought I would comment on the winter performance of the 300c, seeing as how we have had a banner year for snow.
I was concerned about how the beast would do in the snow with rear wheel drive and a 345HP Hemi. As I soon learned, the traction control is great at keeping things in a straight line and keeping you moving without any drama. However, you can turn off the traction control which will allow you to throw this thing around. But don't worry, big brother is still looking over your shoulder. Even with the system off, it will not allow you to get too out of control before it starts to reign things in again.
Just last night, I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic here in Utah at the "point of the mountain". This is where I-15 crosses a mountain pass into Salt Lake Valley or Utah Valley depending on the direction you're traveling. I was on the frontage road with my friend following me in his '04 BMW 545i, we were attempting to avoid the gridlock that had been caused by the 70 mile per hour winds creating white out conditions. Drifts were forming at an alarming rate. My friend and I came upon a small hill where a number of cars were stuck, they simply could not make it up this very short hill. Turns out that my friend in the BMW couldn't either. I managed to get up an over, although the traction control was on the verge of stopping my progress due to the computer backing the off throttle to control wheel spin.
I've been surprised this year at how well the Chrysler has done with the amount of snow we've had to deal with. I've only been stuck once, and that was in a parking lot at my office. Sounds silly, however, on that particular day we received more than 12 inches of snow, which meant that I was pushing snow with my front bumper. I was also in a depression where a storm drain is (the FedEx truck got stuck there too).
So the question is, would I have been better off with the AWD version? Frankly, there are times where it would have been nice to have, however, I do not like the fact that it sits 1-2 inches higher off the ground than the RWD Hemi. Doesn't quite look right to me. And I'm sure gas milage would suffer a little as well.
All in all...I'm still very happy with my purchase. And when the roads are dry, it still produces ear to ear grins.
